Why original DNP media, not a substitute

Every DNP media roll has a built-in RFID chip that the printer reads before it starts. The chip identifies the paper type, its remaining yield and its calibration parameters. Without this communication the printer will not start. This is not a restriction on the buyer, it is protection for the device against thermal-head damage from cheaper paper of unknown characteristics.

The DNP dye ribbon is matched by its parameters to a specific paper roll. Every YMC-plus-overcoat combination is factory-calibrated, so colour is repeatable from the first to the last photo in the carton. That matters in event photography, where the batch from a single wedding should look identical.

Substitutes do not exist on this market in any technical sense. Any other media will block the printer or damage the head. You will find all our QW410 papers and ribbons in the media for the DNP QW410 printer section.

Frequently asked questions

Does this paper fit the DS-RX1HS or DS620 printer?
No. QW410 paper is 102 mm wide (for the 4-inch format) and is matched mechanically and in software to the DP-QW410 printer only. The DS-RX1HS and DS620 use 6-inch rolls 152 mm wide. Every DNP model has its own media line, and paper is not interchangeable between models.
How many photos will I print from one carton at a real event?
The carton holds two rolls, 300 prints at 4×6" (10×15 cm) in total. That fully covers two typical weekend weddings (100–200 prints each) with a margin. If you print smaller formats, such as 4×4" (10×10 cm) keepsakes from a corporate event, the yield does not increase. You still get 150 prints per roll.
How long can the paper and ribbons be stored?
The manufacturer recommends storage at 5–30 °C and 35–80% humidity without condensation. In the original packaging the media keep their full quality. Once opened, a roll is best used within a few weeks for full colour repeatability.
What software should I use to print from the QW410?
The printer works with the standard Windows driver and with DNP's Hot Folder Print Utility. For photo-booth and event use, ViewPro recommends its proprietary Fotillo software.
